Week Three | The Beach | Saturday Night
[ She makes as much noise as possible, walking through the grass and the sand.
On nights like tonight you don't want to make the mistake of sneaking up on someone when you didn't mean to.
She gives her time, and she gives herself time. And when she feels ready (and hopes Vriska is ready), she finds her. ]
It's late.. or maybe it's early? Whatever it is, you've been out here for a very long time.
[ She has a beach towel wrapped around her like a blanket, and she looks a little pale. ]
You're not okay.
[ It's a statement, not a question. ]

[ She's not even sure who she's trying to convince at this point.
Vriska is sitting on the wet sand of the beach, just close enough to the ocean that occasionally the waves will reach up far enough to lap at her feet. She is also soaking wet, her black hair stringy and tangled around her face and neck. She doesn't seem to care much about the state she's in, though; nothing about it seems to bother her.
She just keeps staring out at the ocean, where it meets the sky. ]

[ She sits down next to her and takes the towel off her shoulders and wrap's it around her shoulders. She's drying off the ends of Vriska's hair with the edge of the towel. ]
Please don't lie to me.
[ And it's more a request borne out of concern than anything else. When Vriska's hair is no longer dripping she stops fussing. ]
You don't have to be okay, no one expects you to. But I won't let you be alone.

You don't get it. I need to be fine. I should be fine. I'm going to execute Battler tomorrow, and I should be fine with that. I should be fine with all these people dying. What does it matter to me? I'm weak, Jinah. I'm weak and pathetic as hell. Maybe I need to just accept that. Embrace my new identity as a soft, spineless loser!

When quiet envelopes them once more, she inches her palm forward and rests her hand on top of Vriska's. ]
You're not going to believe me.. but it's easier to not care, you know. It's harder to open yourself up to other people and feel things for them, especially in a situation like this. So, I think that makes you strong. It's going to make all of this more difficult.. but I think you're very brave because of that.

And then she will lean over and wrap her arms around her teammate and just kind of hang on. ]
Fuck, can we just... I don't know, stay here for a while?
no subject
We can stay here all night if you want.
[ In the morning the others will join them on the beach, they will make their final requests and the game will go on. But for now it's just them and the ocean.
She shifts a little, so that she has one arm around Vriska and her eyes on the water. ]
You don't have to do this you know.
[ She's talking about Battler and the execution but she doesn't want to say anymore about it than she has to. ]
There's nothing you have to take responsibility for.

Either way, Vriska just leans into Jinah and is quiet for a time. ]
Maybe not. But I think I might be one of the only people here who can fix this. And I'm going to.
no subject
You say you have to fix things but.. you didn't do anything wrong. None of this is your mess.
[ But Vriska is Vriska-- despite the short time they've spent together she knows there's not much point in trying to talk her down from anything. ]
But I guess that doesn't matter, just.. whatever it is you're going to do-- I trust you, I think I would even if you weren't my partner.
